Walt Disney World

Here are all of our friends and guest hosts for my entry!  Let's take a look around and say hello to everyone!!

Do you hear "WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR"?

....because it is playing in the background!!

Walt Disney World is made up of several different parks.

We have Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, Animal Kingdom, MGM Studios, and then there are also Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, and Downtown Disney.  Each park has its own sections as well, such as in Animal Kingdom there are places for animal viewing, live shows, picture taking with characters, and Animal Kingdom is where you can see the Lion King Show, go on a safari ride, and see a show of Pocahontas.

Downtown Disney has all of the best Disney Stores, and the largest Disney store in the world for Disney paraphernalia - just isles and isles of endless Disney products.  There is also a special store for movies, and even crafts seen in no other part of the world and unique just to Disney World.   Downtown Disney also features shows that go on in five different areas, such as Jazz, Rock and Roll, Comedic shows, and the like.  These shows are presented until 2:00am on most evenings.

Magic Kingdom is where Cinderella's Castle is, featured below.  Magic Kingdom features most of the children's rides and there are also other areas off of Magic Kingdom in which each is unique to its own characteristic for children.  Each area features characters that show and you can take pictures with at different times of the day.

Epcot Center features different cultures and cuisine from around the world.  Along the walkway you can see Asian Acrobats to Russian dancing. These shows are performed all day long.  There are also some thrill rides there as well.

MGM Studios is where you can see the famous Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, as well as ride the Tower of Terror!  There is also the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" Movie Set Adventure, in 3D!  There is also the Star Wars thrill ride and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith!

And then there is Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach - very wonderful water parks with thrills a minute or even relaxing tube rides. At Typhoon Beach you can ride the inner tube slide adventure called "Mayday Falls", or gently flow along down "Castaway's Beach".  At Blizzard Beach there are also big thrills, mild but wild thrills, or small-scale slides, pop jets, and fountain play for the children.

IT CAN GET A LITTLE WARM AT DISNEY DEPENDING ON WHAT TIME OF YEAR YOU VISIT! THOSE WET TOTES IN YOUR GIFT BAGS ARE GREAT FOR KEEPING SOME NICE COOL WET-WIPES IN THEM!

Below you will see some featured photographs that belong to my family.  I will also add links at the end of this page to the different parks, but for now, enjoy what is here!

The above photo is just one of the entrances to Disney World.

This is of course, Magic Kingdom, featuring Cinderella's Castle.

Let's take a moment for some interesting Disney World facts:

1.  Cinderella's Castle:  Did you know that the castle is 189' high and can be seen for miles around?  It is also not made of any brick or blocks.  It is made of steel and fiberglass, which is the best materials to protect it from the elements.  Also, Cinderella's Castle was originally to hold an apartment for Walt Disney and his family.  It later did not happen, however, it was used mainly for the telephone personnel on site and still is today.  It has one elevator to the center middle section of the castle.

2. Parades:  Each float is its own gliding theater.  Each float has its own air conditioning, and is computerized. It also runs on sensors.  There are hundreds of little plugs, something like bar coded bars, along and imbedded in the road which control the time each float takes to move to its next point and is read by each floats computer.  The computer also runs all of the separate lights and animations on each float.

3.   Haunted Mansion:  The Haunted Mansion inside Disney World has many special effects; however, although still asked "how do they DO that?" today, the effects were generated from very old magician tricks - mostly a smoke and mirror, and flashlight-under-the-chin type of technology.  Not very high tech there...LOL, but if it works, don't fix it! LOL....  An interesting fact is that there are over 1100 animatronics and over 700 sound tracks that make up the Mansion.  All controlled from underground.

4.  In 2006:  Coming in 2006 is a new high speed roller coaster to be placed in Animal Kingdom.  You will soar high over the entire park, up into a mountain, where a realistic "Yetti" creature, 15 feet high in a hunched or sitting position,  will be there to chase you out and back down the mountain!!! "YIKES"!   It is said that as you head down, it will be very fast with many surprises.  It is referred to presently as the "Yetti Coaster".  So for you roller coaster fans out there, you may want to visit this one!!

OR how about a Disney World Wedding?   The prices are high, but the memories are endless:

An intimate wedding at WDW for two starts at about $3,500 including a 4-night honeymoon at Disney's Port Orleans, theme-park tickets, a daylight ceremony at one of several Disney resort locations, a wedding cake, bouquet for the bride, a marriage certificate signed by Mickey himself, and a host of other trimmings. Custom weddings for parties of more than 8 start at $7,500. The average Disney wedding costs $20,000 and has 100 guests (Prince Charming not included). A la carte add-ons range from $250 for a white-dove fly-over and $2,200 to arrive in Cinderella's glass coach. It would cost $42,000 or more to rent the Magic Kingdom for a reception (not including ceremony, food, and other doodads). If you can imagine it, Disney can probably do it, as long as your wallet matches that imagination.

For details, call tel. 321/939-4610 (tel. 800/370-6009 for honeymoons only) or go to www.disneyweddings.com on the Internet

.

I HOPE YOU FOUND THESE FACTS INTERESTING!  LET'S MOVE ON......

This is a topiary in the shape of Minnie Mousse.  Many topiaries such as this can be seen as you walk through the parks.

The parades are endless. Every park has a parade and they present several times a day.

Time to pose with Nemo?!
